Nicely said Switch. Very important to protect your edge and headspace – I hadn’t considered that specifically. Cheers. Statistics: Posted by Winston Zedmore — Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:45 pm

Nice deal, I hope everyone has a dedicated box for their charting and for the platform. The common misconception is- I need the best available to trade, not so. When using a desktop it is not necessary to have an i7 top of the line CPU, you can get by on an i3 just fine, sufficient RAM (6-8gb) and graphics card for the dual screens, and highly suggest a battery back up, For XP users a Pentium dual core and 3gb RAM(XP has a cap on how much RAM it can use) will suffice. Having a streamlined box for your platform/charts meaning void of useless programs unrelated to trading (Call of Duty on the second screen AHEM!) and the critical Internet connection…Latency is your enemy in this game. Test and ping your brokers server IP and generic test your provider using something like speedtest.net where your broker is located ie; Chicago, etc. I have been in situations where using a remote server to trade on was faster than trading from my location. For example when trading FX yrs ago we used a piggyback on the brokers server and remotely accessed it from the office. So if you have high latency from the home to broker it may be beneficial to use/lease a remote server that is close to your home and run the platform from there wher they have ample bandwidth/speed to suffice. Ok all I wanted to say was if your using a dual/quad monitor stand make sure the monitor has VESA mounting holes as this one in particular does not, been there done that Statistics: Posted by greygoose — Fri Apr 13, 2012 9:29 pm
