Crude oil prices edged up by the middle of Monday’s trading session when Mohammad Ali Khatibi, one of the OPEC governors said $100 per barrel would be preferable.<\/p>\n

By 16:30 Moscow time, the price of Light crude oil futures on the NYMEX had risen 1.1 percent, reaching $82.41 per barrel, while in London, a barrel of Brent crude oil traded for $80.33 on the ICE Futures Exchange.<\/p>\n

Demand increased after Iran\u2019s representatives in OPEC, Mohammad Ali Khatibi, had said in a televised interview that $100 per barrel was a \u201cgood price\u201d. He believes it necessary to take into account inflation and fluctuations in the US dollar\u2019s exchange rate when determining world oil prices.<\/p>\n

Analysts do not rule out that Tehran may press OPEC at its upcoming session in Vienna for the adoption of decisions that will raise crude oil prices.<\/p>\n
