In London, Brent crude oil futures for August 2010 delivery was at $74.77 a barrel 08.00 GMT on the ICE Futures Exchange, while WTI oil prices also fell on open. European stock market futures pointed to falls for equities today, as sentiment was soured after manufacturing data from China showed the country&#8217;s rapid economic growth was slowing. Traders were nervous this morning ahead of the results expected at 10.15am of European banks&#8217; attempts to refinance a \u20ac442bn loan that has kept the system afloat for the past year. In place of the deal about to expire, the ECB is offering funds for three months at 1%. &#8220;The take up will be interesting to see as it will provide an indication of the short term funding requirements that is not satisfied by the interbank market,&#8221; said Gary Jenkins at Evolution Securities. &#8220;In the current climate to order the repayment of last year&#8217;s one-year loan of \u20ac442bn [today], the ECB was taking a real chance, particularly as wholesale money markets are moribund,&#8221; said David Buik at BGC Partners. Both Brent and WTI Light oil prices have been trading in line with stock markets recently, which may provide a rough guide to how oil prices are set to end the week&#8217;s trading session.
