Brent crude oil prices close Friday’s trading session back around $111 a barrel as a bullish trading week for oil takes a cue from the US dollar, which remains mixed in currency market trading.<\/p>\n

Brent Oil Futures \u2013 Closing Price<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brent crude oil futures for August 2011 delivery ended the week\u2019s trading session at $111.50 a barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange yesterday evening, $6.08 higher than last week\u2019s closing price of $105.42 a barrel.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the US dollar traded slightly higher on Friday, as a bigger than expected decline in US consumer sentiment partially offset support from an unexpected climb in manufacturing activity for June.<\/p>\n

The ICE US Dollar Index, which tracks the US dollar against six major world currencies, stood at 74.364, a modest gain from 74.314 at the close on Thursday.<\/p>\n

A stronger US dollar tends to push oil prices lower as they become more expensive for buyers using other currencies.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
