Assist the Ercot Portfolio Director with the term management of a diverse portfolio of Ercot assets on an intermediate and long-term basis to optimize the portfolio\u2019s value. Identify, create, and optimize term commercial opportunities in the Ercot market.<\/p>\n

* Develop and implement term trading strategies that support the direction provided by the Portfolio Director and Regional Vice President.
* Analyze and interpret power and fuel market fundamentals including supply, demand and regulatory changes.
* Enhance term asset value through bidding, trading, and use of hedging strategies to maximize term profits in accordance with company risk management guidelines.
* Actively make markets across term markets for power and options.
* Interact regularly with other commercial operations traders to identify term opportunities and strategies.
* Partner with other business units and\/or departments to identify and facilitate business process improvements.
* Work with other NRG staff to effectively maximize the Organization\u2019s position and strategy in the Ercot market, including participation in market regulatory and policy directions.
* Interact with market participants and electricity brokers to develop, negotiate, and execute opportunistic term business transactions.
* Maintain compliance with all related corporate and industry trading policies, codes of conduct and Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements.
* Support ongoing and special initiatives within Commercial Operations and business development.<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/p>\n

* Bachelor\u2019s degree in economics, business, finance, or other relevant degree with five or more years of commodities &\/or derivatives trading experience required. MBA is preferred.
* Strong options background preferred.
* Strong natural gas basis plus fixed price experience preferred.
* Extensive knowledge of trading tools and indices, marginal and average pricing, and generation commitment techniques.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills; sound conceptual thinking. Must have ability to make profitable business decisions quickly, to identify and communicate market opportunities to co-workers, and to understand all financial reports. <\/p>\n
