BMO Capital Markets, the U.S. based investment and corporate banking practice of BMO Financial Group (NYSE: BMO), is an integrated full-service mid-market investment bank. We offer corporate and institutional clients a complete range of financial services, including financial advisory and capital raising services, mergers and acquisitions and equity research, sales and trading services.<\/p>\n

BMO Capital Markets is currently looking for Trading Associate, Junior Trader to support its U.S. Bond Trading business. As a member of the U.S. Bond Trading team, the Associate reports to the Managing Director and provides clients with coverage, including firm research and trading (buy\/sell) merchandise. The Associate is expected to maximize profit based on customer flow and experience while minimizing bank risk and adhering to position and loss limits. The Associate is expected to work closely with the Sales team in attaining and retaining customer business.<\/p>\n

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:<\/p>\n

1) Client Support and Relationship Management
\u2022 Must provide competitively priced liquidity to corporate, institutional, and interbank clients. Must be able to provide quotes, hedging advice, and market information in support of the customer business and arbitrage opportunities.
\u2022 Support sales activities with trading strategies, definition and market information customized to suit their client\u2019s individual needs. Will be available to accompany all sales staff to assist with client calls, presentations, and seminars.
\u2022 Beyond assisting sales staff to increase client volumes, the role must actively market financial institutions to increase order flow, volume and market information
\u2022 Develop and leverage relationships across LOBs, with executive and external clients to foster and support intra-group coordination while carrying out accountabilities.<\/p>\n

2) Transaction Management
\u2022 Receive order ticket from Sales and inspects form to ensure accuracy of information.
\u2022 Execute orders for purchase or sales of securities or completes transaction independently if brokerage firm is market maker in requested transaction. All transactions must be recorded accurately and frequently reviewed for accuracy.
\u2022 Writes and signs sales order confirmation forms to record and approve transactions.
\u2022 Reviews all transactions to ensure that trades conform to the regulations of SEC, NASD, and other regulatory agencies. Each trader must be aware of and abide by all regulatory requirements.
\u2022 Track supply and demand and evaluate market development.<\/p>\n

3) Risk Management
\u2022 Responsible for the prudent management of the Bank\u2019s exposure. Must operate within position and loss limits.
\u2022 Manage risk related to pricing and trading of the book.
\u2022 Manage firm\u2019s risk exposure on the existing book.
\u2022 Take action to reduce risk, including the development of hedging and trading strategies<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/p>\n

a) Knowledge
\u2022 Four-year college or university degree in Accounting\/Economics\/ Mathematics\/Statistics, CFA preferred
\u2022 3-5 years of industry related experience
\u2022 Working knowledge of financial markets with previous exposure to the bond markets and\/or analysis gained through a combination of work and educational qualifications is required.
\u2022 Thorough knowledge of bond market, pricing, and trading\/hedging strategies and familiarity with a variety of the field\u2019s concepts, practices and procedures
\u2022 Basic understanding of trading procedures and broader regulatory and financial concepts
\u2022 Series 7, 63, and 55 required or attained within 6 months.<\/p>\n

b)Skills
\u2022 Strong quantitative, technology and finance skills
\u2022 Strong risk management skills, fundamental analysis skills and leadership abilities
\u2022 Ability to find and communicate ongoing events that affect or that can affect the market
\u2022 Delivers clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others
\u2022 Able to exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks with little notice
\u2022 Details and results oriented and able to prioritize tasks in a multi-task environment
\u2022 Demonstrated computer skills with the ability to learn new systems and spreadsheets quickly. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint, Outlook, Bloomberg, Reuters and other market data packages.
\u2022 Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
\u2022 Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities working in a fast-paced, highly pressured work environment
\u2022 Strong focus on meeting client needs
\u2022 Ability to discern trading desk dynamics<\/p>\n
