WTI oil trading over $73 as stock markets lift oil prices
WTI oil futures are trading over $73 on Tuesday as global and US stock markets move higher and in turn give oil prices a boost. US Light crude oil futures for August 2010 delivery was at $73.14 a barrel at 15.00 GMT on the NYMEX. Global stock markets rose higher as investors recover some of the big losses that piled up in recent weeks following a string of disappointing economic reports from Europe and the US. The Dow Jones Opens Higher In the US, the Dow Jones starts it’s shorter week trading higher is looking to recover some losses after dropping over seven percent over the last two weeks, pushing it to its lowest closing level since early October 2009. European Stock Markets Gain Meanwhile, in Europe, all stock markets are higher as investors see prices at bargain levels after dropping sharply in recent weeks, mirroring bumper gains in Asian markets. Oil Prices off One Month Lows WTI oil prices have chased stock markets over this period and as predicted, are following them higher again, after dropping to their lowest level in nearly a month last week that brought both Brent and WTI oil prices trading lower by nearly ten percent.
