WTI oil price trading over $80 as US markets move higher
WTI oil prices are trading over the $80 for the first time since the end of April 2010 as US stock markets look to open higher this morning in New York.
US Light crude oil futures for September 2010 delivery were trading at $80.36, 13.45 GMT on the NYMEX after breaking the $80 mark around 13.00 GMT.
Before Wall Street’s opening bell, futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 111 points to 10528 and S&P 500 futures rose 13.40 points, or 1.2%, to 1111.70.
Meanwhile, Asian stock markets ended higher, as strong earnings outweighed disappointing data from China which also boosted oil prices.
