New Banking Rules and Upgrades in Growth Forecasts Boost Risk Appetite

Risk Appetite was boosted after clarity on the Basel III requirements on bank capitals and EU's upgrade of economic forecasts in the Eurozone. Stock markets rallied with DJIA and S&P 500 gaining +0.78% and +1.11% respectively. In Euope, UK's FTSE 100 and France's CAC 40 rose more than +1% while Germany's DAX climbed +0.75%. The dollar weakened against growth currencies. In the commodity sector, crude oil jumped to as high as 78.04 before settling at 77.19, up +0.97%. The leak in a Enbridge pipeline continued to driven US fuel prices higher. Gasoline surged by as much as +2% before settling with modest gains.
