WTI oil trading near $82 as investors look to commodities

WTI oil prices open the week trading firm near $82 a barrel as investors look to commodities including gold and oil futures as the US dollar continues to loose value.

US Light crude oil futures for November 2010 delivery was trading at $81.57, 07.45 GMT on the NYMEX this morning.

Investors are also betting on tighter market conditions in the shorter term, reflecting greater interest for commodities.

Money managers raised net long crude oil positions to more than 107,000 on the NYMEX in the week through to 28th September from less than 97,000 a week earlier, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission said on Friday.

And open interest on call options to buy US WTI crude for November 2010 at $85 a barrel jumped to almost 12,500 lots from less than 7,200.
