Brent oil prices firm to $114 a barrel ending Friday’s trading session higher amid a rising US Dollar Index, which typically weighs on oil futures and other commodities.

Brent crude oil futures for June 2011 delivery ended the week’s trading session at $114.01 a barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange yesterday evening, $3.89 higher than last week’s closing price of $110.12 a barrel.
Meanwhile, the ICE US Dollar Index, which tracks the US dollar against six major world currencies, rose to 75.80, its highest level since 18th April.
