Central Bank Meetings as Focus of the Week

Financial markets slumped on Monday as investors dumped their risky assets after weak US payroll data. In Asia, the MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell -0.3% with most benchmark indices recording losses. European shares followed the coattail and slipped. In the commodity market, the front-month contract for WTI crude oil declined for a second day as signs of economic slowdown raised demand worries. Moreover, OPEC’s meeting on Wednesday and resumption of operation in the TransCanada pipeline also sent the price lower. Gold climbed higher for a second day.
