Markets Little Change, Sentiment Supported by French Official's Comment
It was a rather quiet trading day due to the lack of dataflow and central bank meetings. Financial markets changed little but generally remained steady as Bank of France Governor Christian Noyer sent more indications about the ECB bond purchase plan. The euro slipped as reactivation of bond purchases would expand the ECB’s balance sheet, eventually debasing the single currency. In the commodity sector, WTI crude changed little but Brent crude soared for the 7th consecutive day to 113.22, up +0.96%, at close. Gold continued to move sideways above 1600.
