Crude oil and gold prices soared as the Russia-Ukraine crisis escalated. A Malaysian Airlines plane had been shot down over Eastern Ukraine with the market speculating that it’s related to the tensions between Russia and Ukraine. US President Barack Obama said the US would assist in determining the cause of the crash.
