Oil traders often look to stock markets as a measure of overall investor sentiment. US Light crude oil futures for May delivery was at $81.50 a barrel midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the NYMEX, while in London, Brent crude oil futures was at $80.46 on the ICE Futures Exchange. “A sustained oil price correction will be extremely difficult with the stock market posting new highs,” Ritterbusch and Associates said in a report. “We look for crude futures to generally hang out within the $80 to $82 zone.” “Looking beyond the day by day fluctuations, oil prices remain well supported close to the top of their recent trading range,” said Barclays Capital analysts in a report.
