Conflicts Among G-20 Nations Boost Gold
Financial markets got hit as China accelerated tightening measures by increasing the reserve requirement ratio. Stocks in Asia and Europe fell as investors feared growth will slow as the government unwinds stimulus measures. In the commodity sector, oil slipped while gold fluctuated within a narrow range but remained at elevated levels. G-20 countries agreed on indicative guidelines for assessing persistently large imbalances. However, opinions remained divided regarding what to do after imbalances are identified. Persistence conflicts on the issue should continue supporting gold.
