Germany's Preliminary GDP Signaled Peripheral Weakness Spread to Core

Asian markets slipped despite the modest rise in Wall Street yesterday as investors were disappointed by Germany’s GDP data and the uncertainty of US debt ceiling. While S&P warned that downgrades of several European countries’ credit ratings were possible, Fitch said that the US’ triple A rating was at risk if debates of the country’s fiscal issue are prolonged.
