PEAK6 Advisors is currently seeking a junior convertible bond trader to join our Chicago-based hedge fund team.
Key Skills and Responsibilities:
Act as liaison between Portfolio Manager and brokers
Assist PM by:
o Interacting with Operations, Compliance, Marketing and other divisions within the fund
o Building models to search for and analyze trade ideas
o Monitoring positions/broker flows
Engage in daily trading of convertible bonds and other parts of the corporate capital structure
Execute and research trading opportunities
Develop and maintain strong buy & sell side relationships
Monitor and manage risk
Job Requirements:
1-3 years of experience trading convertible bonds with a leading financial institution
Must have strong knowledge and experience with options
Must have credit analysis experience
Comprehensive understanding of pricing, hedging and managing convertible bonds
Ability to effectively use technology, research and market intelligence in day-to-day trading
Highest ethical standards
Team oriented
Excellent attention to detail
Previous experience working in a highly competitive and dynamic environment
The ability to work independently, self motivated, and proactive in achieving individual and team objectives
Strong analytical skills with the ability to think critically & objectively
Must be entrepreneurial in nature
Developed quantitative skills including deep Excel knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Requirements
Basic Qualifications
3 – 5 years of experience in brokerage industry specifically related to municipal bonds.
Series 7, 63, 53, and 55 licenses or Series 53 and 55 acquired within 6 months of hire.
High School Diploma – Bachelor’s Degree Highly Preferred
Preferred Skills/Experience
Advanced knowledge of brokerage products and trading. Ability to evaluate municipal market volatility and identify purchase or swap opportunities for Financial Advisors.
Ability to build bond ladders for customers based on specified investment objectives.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals regarding the growth of the municipal bond product within the organization.
Detail oriented ability to work independently, and strong verbal communication skills.
Proven commitment to quality customer service.
Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
