    We are currently seeking a talented Executive Director Equity Portfolios for our San Antonio, TX facility.
    PURPOSE OF JOB
  • The USAA Precious Metals and Minerals Fund is one of the leading mutual funds in the precious metals universe. The fund is the top performing fund in its category over the five and ten year periods ending 10/31/11 and currently has over $2 billion in assets under management. The Fund employs a disciplined and systematic process to evaluate companies on a fundamental basis. 
    JOB DUTIES
    • The Executive Director Equity Portfolios will work closely with the Portfolio Manager in managing the mutual fund.
    • This position will share the responsibility of updating earnings models on a quarterly or as needed basis, monitoring the performance of current holdings as well as prospective companies and conducting onsite visits to mining operations.
    • The Executive Director Equity Portfolios will be in the position to share in the decision making process and directly impact the performance of the portfolio.
    • Foreign travel will be required.


    Minimum Requirements
  • 3+ years experience in the mining industry.
  • 5+ years business experience.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent job related experience.
  • Technical training in the mining industry.
  • Fundamental understanding of the workings of a mining operation.
  • General acumen understanding financial statements that relate to a business portfolio.
  • Self sufficient and able to operate in a flat portfolio management team structure. 
    Preferred
    • MBA or related finance degree.
    • Investment analysis experience.
    • CFA designation.
    • Knowledge of MS office products, (Excel, Powerpoint).

We currently have three employees and manage separate accounts with an emphasis on asset allocation. Portfolios are structured using equities and fixed income holdings. Equities are chosen following in-depth, in-house research of individual stocks, and fixed income exposure comes primarily through well-researched, high quality mutual funds. We are small but well respected. Our philosophy is to invest based on rigorous analysis of long-term company fundamentals using both value and GARP strategies. Our portfolios have outperformed the S&P 500 by 400 basis points on average annually over the last 10 years.

    Description:
    This is a very key position. We are seeking an entrepreneurial individual with a passion and talent for investing to join our firm as Portfolio Manager and hit the ground running from the day one to help our founder run and grow the business. We foresee the person will become, in a few years, our primary decision maker on investments and asset allocation and will run the business.
     Requirements

    Qualifications:

    We are looking to hire a person with keen understanding of the major issues facing investors today and a commitment to deep investment research who can generate superior portfolio returns. The ideal candidate for our Portfolio Manager position would be someone with 5-15 years of experience in the investment industry who is already comfortable with making investment decisions and can also help our firm’s founder to grow the platform by soliciting new business. Our plan is to transition primary responsibility for investments and asset allocation to the Portfolio Manager, with the founder focusing primarily on growing the business.

    Compensation:
    The package will consist of a base salary of $90,000-150,000 plus bonus and part ownership in the business.
