Role:
The Fixed Income Sales & Services Teams (FIS&S) are a part of the Investor Solutions Group in Retail Distribution. The teams are comprised of highly skilled fixed income professionals who work in conjunction with TD Ameritrade’s retail distribution channels including Branches, National Branch and Investor Services to service and deepen relationships with high assets clients and prospects with fixed income needs.
The Regional Bond Specialist will be responsible for a developing a territory to grow fixed income clients by partnering with local Branch Managers & Investment Consultants (ICs). The Specialists will convert client referrals, co-manage fixed income HAC (High Asset Client) relationships with ICs, and make proactive outbound client development calls. The Specialist will primarily be educating clients on fixed income strategies and solutions for their portfolio, positioning new products and solutions and providing excellent execution and services to deepen client relationships.
These activities will require a strong knowledge of the securities industry, complex fixed income products and solutions, portfolio management theory, portfolio analysis and construction and recommendations on appropriate fixed income products as part of a client’s overall portfolio allocation. The Specialist will be a highly motivated self-starter with superior fixed income knowledge and expertise and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets and goals.
Responsibilities:
Ability to develop value-added client relationships within a territory by working closely with branches
Build trust and strong relationships with Branch Managers & IC’s to retain existing fixed income clients and acquire new high net worth clients with fixed income needs
Educate Managers, ICs and clients on fixed income products and strategies
Conduct one-one-one meetings, conference calls and training sessions with Branch ICs and clients
Respond to Branch IC calls and emails regarding fixed income requests or questions
Strong sense of accountability and ability to excel in an individual production environment
Track record of consistently exceeding sales targets and goals
Strengthen client relationships and expand existing clients’ share of wallet through proactive outbound calls
Discuss potential risks and benefits in using particular products or strategies
Analyze current client or potential client portfolios and make appropriate recommendations
Profile and accurately record client data and information that can be used to further develop clients
Provide high quality service and value to clients to attract and retain assets and accounts
Work with clients to design and implement fixed income strategies
Research developments in the bond market and associated financial markets to provide our ICs and clients with educated and accurate explanations and advice
Assist clients with year end tax swaps
Execute all fixed income trades in an accurate and timely manner
Adhere to all regulatory and company rules and regulations
Requirements:
Series 7, 63 and 65, or 66 required
Advanced degree, CFA designation desired
5 years experience in fixed income sales/trading preferred
Solid understanding of fixed income markets and trends
Must have extensive knowledge of the securities industry, portfolio management theory, economic and business cycles, and all types of fixed income products and strategies
Ability to understand and communicate complicated fixed income investment concepts in a clear and concise manner
Demonstrated success in sales and achievement in the financial industry
Successful experience in growing a territory
Proven ability to develop strong relationships with prospects and clients
Understanding of current regulatory requirements related to fixed income
Proactive team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal distraction
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Strong analytical skills and initiative, with a degree of organizational and presentation skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize job functions.
Proficient with Bloomberg
Strong computer skills
Some travel required
