The Fixed Income group develops software to support the analytics and data that move the Global Fixed Income markets. We cover the Government, Corporate, Money Market, Muni and Preferred instruments. Our analytical functions are industry standards in their respective markets. Developers in our group have the opportunity to work in all stages of the SDLC, from working with business, external vendors, and clients to define requirements, to designing, developing, testing and delivering the product. The group also works on crucial calculations,/pricing systems and/algorithms that many clients depend on to make critical decisions. We have a code base that spans the breadth of the technology spectrum at Bloomberg, including Application Services/C/C++.
We are hiring a developer to join the Fixed Income Search & Screening team. We are looking for a candidate with experience in search/information retrieval and open source search technologies like Lucene/Solr, Elasticsearch, or Big Data software like Hadoop/HBase. Alternatively, strong C++ or Java experience with some exposure to open source technologies would be considered. Above all, the candidate should be interested in learning and applying search/Big Data technologies to Finance, and should be able to creatively solve problems that are unique to the Finance domain. We are looking for a senior developer who will provide technical direction for the project and co-ordinate interaction with business and clients in defining requirements and ensuring efficient execution.
Qualifications:
– Minimum 5 years experience with C/C++/Java
– Experience with Lucene/Solr, Elasticsearch, Hadoop/HBase, other open source Search/Big Data technologies
– Experience with managing medium to large scale projects from requirement gathering to rollout
– Strong Communication Skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment
– Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
